Naming the Enemy

Daniel Pipes does a great job with his recent article, Bush Declares War on Radical Islam, in explaining why the president's speech was so groundbreaking. He talks about it ushering in a new era in fighting Islamists and systematically breaks down the speech into its best parts. The final sentence states what's left.

Only when Americans realize that the Islamists intend to replace the U.S. Constitution with Shariah will they enter the fourth and final era of this war.

As many prepare to fast and repent for Yom Kippur, I wish you well.

What an important article!

We have been caught in a pincer movement for some time now.

On the one hand, there is the "anti-globalisation" movement which has sucked in a rag-bag of antisemites and crypto-fascists along with the politically-confused.

On the other, the islamists.

On the evening of 9/11 I said (and have continued to say), "They want us muslim - or they want us dead."

Once people understand this, things will become easier.

But most people turn away from such an unpleasant thought... More fool them!

``Mein Kampf`` comes to mind; Hitler said exactly what he was going to do if he attained power, and nobody believed him. As a result, he was able to commit the greatest atrocities in history. Radical Islam has made absolutely no effort to hide what they plan to do, yet few in our modern theraputic multi-cultural society can believe they actually MEAN it.

Great post, Esther!

p.s. Blessings on you and all for Yom Kippur!

Esther,
Prior to your posting here, I left the following comment at the aforementioned Pipes article:

Where is the stampede of Muslims to "take back" their faith?

There is no Koranic verse comparable to Sura 9:5, the most recent "revelation." This passage abrogates the peaceful means of spreading Islam. The jihad verses and the verses commanding conversion, subjugation, or death are among the most recent "revelations." I don't see any way around that problem, which is inherent in Islam.

Islamic definitions of peace and innocent do not correspond to Western definitions. Therein is the heart of the matter, and I see no room for compromise from either side.

The Pipes article is an important one!

May God bless you protect you.

May God lift the divine countenance to you and be gracious to you.

May God's countenance shine upon you and grant you peace.

Whenever people bring up the subject of Islam I tell them these very things, but more often than not they don't want to hear the truth about Islam - that they intend nothing less than world domination if they get their way.
It's amazing how people just prefer to bury their heads in the sand. It appears the truth is too hard for them. Might upset their comfortable little world.

Gindy, people don't want to shake their little world, no matter what the truth is. Morris said it and I totally agree. Thanks for dropping by and commenting, Morris!

RM, you said it right.

Thanks, Tim. On both counts. :)
