Israel
I know with the events of today I should have a post up. The thing is, I'm so worn out by my intense anger at the situation, that I have nothing left. I want Syria bombed. I want Iran bombed. I want justice. I know there will be none. It feels very hopeless. The world feels like it's falling off its axis, that black is white, wrong is right, etc.

Yes
the problem is that there's no real plan.
Esther,

I know exactly what you mean! I feel that way about a number of issues.
May Israel achieve complete victory!
Agreed. This is gutwrenching and infuriating at the same time. What irks me even more is hearing so many Americans willing to abandon Israel at a time like this.
Jonathan,

Maybe some Americans. But I know lots of average Joe's who feel otherwise.
We gained a new contributor Fern Sidman.
Have you heard this name before?
She posts on several other sites as well.
She's just got a good post about the latest events (concering Israel).
Batya, it certainly feels like you're dead on right.
Right on, AOW.
Are you hearing that Jonathan? That sucks. I haven't been hearing that much on my end.
I haven't Felis, but will have to check her out!
Here's a news flash for all of those Americans who think the solution to the problem is for us to abandon Israel. Prior to the attacks on 9/11, the terrorist group responsible for murdering the most Americans is...you guessed it. Hezbollah. This execrable bunch of savages was behind the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut and also some of the more spectacular kidnappings of Americans in Lebanon. These people were the pre-cursors of al Qaeda in their fanatic desire for Islamic supremacy over the West, and none of that ideology really has much to do with Israel.
Everytime I accidently feel a twinge of empathy for the Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian, and Kuwaiti ex-patriates that Israel is conducting airstrikes upon, I get this vivid image of jetliners crashing into the World Trade Center. I see the images of people leaping from the windows of the towers, with a look of defiant determination on their faces. A look that says "You will not burn me alive. I WILL CHOOSE MY DEATH."
And then I remember those Egyptian, Jordanian, Syrian, and Kuwaiti ex-patriates on that day. Passing out candy and dancing in the streets, celebrating terrorism on American soil.
If Israel nukes these fuckers off the face of the earth, I will criticize Israel for having a restrained response.
Yes. I live in Northern Virginia, just outside of D.C. I work in downtown D.C. On local call in shows (including C-SPAN's "Washington Journal"), around the office, among friends, etc., a frequent comment is: Why do we give all this money to Israel? Israel spies on the United States. We were attacked on 9/11 because we support Israel. Israel is repressive. We have to pay over three dollars a gallon for gas because of Israel . . . I really do hear these comments. Often.
Rory, right on!
Beamish! You are tough! So how's the presidential campaign going? :)
Jonathan, that is so depressing!
