I'm Curious...
So I just saw on the Fox News ticker that Abu Mazen wants to return to peace talks once Israel has completed the Gaza withdrawal and that he fully expects to see a Palestinian state by next year. So why am I curious?
Because I want to know who the hell he thinks he is to feel he can make demands? So Israel does all the work, risks a civil war and he feels like he's done something to move a step forward and should be rewarded? What has he done so far? Let me list his current headline "accomplishments" here:

Mazen condemns suicide bomb. (Notice it doesn't say that he stopped one.)
Soldiers Uninjured in Pipe Bomb Attack
Gunfire Directed at Soldiers Near Nisani
PA Has Double Amount of Allowed Weapons

Bomb Attack Against IDF In Samar
I guess I could go on, but you get the idea.

Good point, Esther.
I've always found it amazing how people can just say flat out lies. He knows he's lying, he is just giving some parts of the media and the apologists ammunition to defend him. Considering his involvement in the funding of Black September, I very much doubt that he sheds tears over Israelis who died or are injured in suicide attacks and other terrorist acts.

We can't take any pronouncements made by Abbas in English as gospel. We have to know what he's saying in Arabic because this is the tactic that's used by the Arabs. They say one thing to appease a Western audience and then in Arabic they spew their usual hateful rhetoric. Also, Abbas is a flat out Holocaust denier and it's no secret because his writings on the subject are well-known. The question is why is the U.S. investing so much energy in propping him up. Sharon, I suspect, is just giving him enough rope to hang himself, but what's Bush's excuse?
There is a Hadith (teachings from the life of Mohammad) in which Mo tells one of his guys who is about go kill a poet for insulting Mo that it is OK to lie when it is in the service of Allah, Mohammad, or when speaking to an infidel, a woman, or just to get out of trouble.
Once Mohammad asked a follower if he had committed the offense in question. The man said he had. Mohammad said it would have been better for the man to have lied because Mo would now have to kill him.
Such a remarkably convenient religion that condones and requires hate, bloodlust, and lying. Islam will fall of its own accord. It will feast upon itself until there is nothing left to consume.
He's very honest. He wants to destroy Israel; and for him that's peace.

Good question, Rory. And I certainly hope Mazen does hang himself. It'd be the best gift he could give his people.
