Baby's Gettin' Cuter!
Hat tip to AOW once again. Baby (pictured at left) is now a month old!Keepers said the cub stayed quiet for most of the brief exam, sometimes making suckling noises. But when he let out a squeal, Mei Xiang got very upset and ran around the enclosure. She immediately calmed down once her baby was back in her arms.
Another news tidbit...
The next step for the baby panda is opening his eyes, which could happen any time now.
Can't wait!

I had to change the date to Sunday...this was meant to be my Sunday post but I guess I was so tired when I posted it last night, I forgot to move it ahead. D'oh!
Bears are canines or cousins to canines, aren't they? I might be wrong about that, but I seem to recall reading that factoid somewhere.
Are pandas cousins to canines? The darling does have a doglike appearance.
I also read somewhere that pandas are cousins to felines.
Maybe somebody here knows about the classification of pandas?
