Tempted Into Jihad -- An Insider's View
Daniel Pipes recently wrote about an article in the London's Mirror by a young British Muslim who jihadists tried to recruit. The teenager candidly reveals how they approached him at a time when he was vulnerable, his father had died recently and they said that he would bring shame to his family if he committed suicide -- but if he did it for Islam... Well then, he'd get to heaven, enjoy the riches of paradise and get his 70 virgins, of course. Despicable, yes. Surprise, no.

When a jihadist dies, the family meets in a gathering more like a wedding than a funeral. "Come celebrate the blessings" is the tone. How can the rest of the world cope with that kind of twisted thinking?
I just have to say this: What man in his right mind wants to be married to 72 virgins?
Irshad Manji has a bit in her book about the 72 virgins crapola possibly being a mistranslation. There is a theory that the Arabic word for "virgins" and "raisins" are close and thus it is possible that the Qur'an actually said the reward would be 72 raisins, raisins being a delicacy in the Mideast at the time the Qur'an was written. Wouldn't that be a scream???

I've also heard that business about 72 raisins, and not 72 virgins. It was on the "Israel Insider" site quite some time ago. Boy, talk about a fake out!!!
i am a terrorist hater. but i want to know if anyone else realizes this: all these al-Queda higher-ups preach to commit suicide bombings for Islam. however, they themselves never do it. they always get some vulnerable extremist or western/democracy hater to do it.
