Miracle for Irene!

Irene Liron, the Holocaust survivor whom you all were so great in helping, has gotten her miracle -- she's made contact with some of Ellen Ackermann's family. Read the exciting news from Naomi Ragen. Read my original post about it here.

From the time they started looking, how long did it take to locate her? If you know. This is actually kind of an amazing story. Especially after all of these years. You used to hear stories like this many years ago, but to think people are still reuniting about 60 years later is unbelievable.

The reason things are happening now is because of the kick-ass database at Yad Vashem. I think Irene tried for a little while on her own but then she sent Naomi her plea to be sent to Naomi's whole email list, I don't think it took even two weeks for all of this to shake out. Gotta love the power of the Internet.

Hurray! I'm really glad to hear this. I've been wondering how this might work out, and it's so nice to learn that there was a positive outcome.

I agree—the internet is most likely the most important human innovation yet.

It was you Esther that set the result in motion on this side. I read your post, sent an email to Ted Belman over at Israpundit, who in turn sent the request and info to his contacts; apprarently one of his contacts checked it out, got the info, and contaced Naomi!
