Where Are The Protests?

Naomi Ragen rightly points out that after the mosque was destroyed in Iraq, there were tons of articles written in understandable protest. But at the same time, the one functioning synagogue in Tajikistan was destroyed to make room for a presidential palace but barely anyone has heard about that. Shamsuddin Nuriddinov, head of the City of Dushanbe, Religious Affairs Department even made the callous comment that if the Jews want a new one, they can pay for it. Unreal.

Darn good point. I don't see why the world seems to care for the Muslims more than the Jews.
(And if it was a Mosque that was destroyed for that, there'd probably be riots.)

I didn't realize there were any Jewish people left in any of the "stans" - perhaps they think they'll keep it that way if they stop synagogs from existing.

I have a flood of Jews from Tajikstan and Uzbekistan crossing my desk. I push them out quickly but we need to advocate for these people.

13 years ago my city was attacked by the Sons of Allah. A trip to buy Broadway tickets nearly turned into the final act of my life.

I was across the street on 9-11. How many times do I have to get blown up before people take this seriously ?

The Jews do not classify into the "noble savage" category.
The left desperately needs their Fridays to love and protect.

I'm so sick of the double standard that I could puke! I didn't hear anything about the destruction of this synagogue in any of the media.

Good point, Rebekah. Wish I knew.

BW, you may be on to something.

beak, i too wish people would take this all more seriously.

felis, i'm pretty sure you're right on the money with that one.

AOW, isn't that wild? Guess the writers are all too busy covering anything but this.

This is easy folks, the Bukharian Jews are mostly black hat Lubavitch these days. They are attempting to be in every country--yet--Tajikistan old time Sephardi Jews did not want them. Now we all know Chabad is powerful. Now Chabad can open up a new syanagogue there, push out the old guard, and look like victors. This is more than a guess, this is "what I heard" here in Toronto from some Bukharians.

A knuckle head .How does one pen a new temple and push out the old guard. Most arethankful to the array of social services provided by Chabad and to a lesser degree the state of Israel.

"Jews don't take the streets and start rioting and calling for blood. Maybe they should."

The biggest mistake - try to explain and be rational.

By doing so you admit to guilt - in the eyes of ADD suffering public.
If you scream. loot, shoot and explode - you show how much you hurt (at least on the inside) and suffer - you become a victim.
Nobody can get so angry for no reason!!
People these days like throwing their support for something they can understand.
A tantrum is easy to identify with an obvious need - shove a loly into the kid's mouth and you can start day dreming about Hollywood (until another tantrum).

And six million Jews were murdered and nobody cared enough to do anything.
